What is a mental virus? Can we recover?
A mental virus by definition is something that was repeatedly said to us from young age, making us believe that it is true. We have been injected since we were born and we have faced it till last week, when we heard something that made us feel bad and we accepted it as truth. I have found 8 ways to go back to ourselves , find those mental viruses and throw them to the rubbish bin, where they belong. It is not only about our personal happiness, it is more about the future generations, as mental viruses go from generation to generation like a disease making the members of the society depressed. You can add any other way that helps you, I just found 8 of them which I think are mental virus survival starter pack kit.
Take pencil and a notebook and write down at least 2 of the options below. Take it easy, 2 is more than 0.
- Read every day, at least 2 pages of a book. It is a cheap hobby, even free, so there are no excuses. Read any type of books. Reading can not only teach you about facts that happened a long time ago, even hundreds of years, but also make you think in a completely different way. You can become less judgmental about people who are different from you, you can travel in time and understand how things worked in the past, or imagine how the future can be for next generations. Personally, I love writers as people. They have this burning desire to spread what they know and what they feel without wanting to keep it for themselves. Furthermore, a writer can become a person you love without ever meeting him/her! You can get to love a person who has died 2 hundred years ago, isn’t that weird? A teacher of mine once said, a good writer makes the reader become a writer himself and that is true. After I started reading a couple of books, I had my first idea of a book that I would love to read and then I discovered it does not exist, so I decided to write it by myself! So, you never know where your new hobby can lead your life. A lot much further than TV will take you, for sure!
2.Hang out with different kinds of people. In the world of globalization, it is not something really difficult. I mean, you don’t have to travel to Pakistan or Italy to meet people who come from these countries. Life is music, life is books. Read it, listen to it, don’t just make your own song and listen to it repeatedly all your life. Imagine you write a book at an early age, your own book and you keep reading it all your life, everyday, for ever. Sounds it exciting? Hang out with the elderly, with kids, with people richer than you, more educated, less educated, poorer, ex prisoners, the happy ones, the successful ones, the people who live with regret. Get to know all of them, get what you want, leave what you don’t, just spend time with them and learn about their mental viruses they now have, or the ones that they have left behind. We all have ideas that are funny to others, go out and laugh with that, get over them.
3.Stay alone in peace at least half an hour a day. It won’t harm you, believe me, and the others will be ok too. Speak with yourself without anger. Talk to yourself about things that you love, about things that make you feel uncomfortable. What have you been taught and harms your soul or other people’s soul? What have you been taught and doesn’t serve you anymore? Maybe you should consider things that someone told you recently and made you upset about yourself, your family or others. Don’t buy it, do not adopt it. It is worse than fast food, it is someone else’s garbage, throw it away and let him know. Don’t be afraid to let people and their beliefs go.
4.Teach yourself another language. And if this is not possible, learn generally something new. Study about it and the people who have served Discover a new world. Generally, be open. Mental viruses grow and thrive in minds that are like lakes. Water that never moves makes the bottom muddy. That is the natural environment for mental viruses to grow and live long like the queen.
5.Write down whatever you have heard and let go whatever makes your soul feel uncomfortable. One of the most important steps. When we write down things that we don’t like, they now are on a piece of sheet. They no longer live in our minds. When we write down things that we like, we have the tendency to adore them and keep them as prayers. So, write down whatever was forced in your soul and you will be amazed of how funny it is going to be now that you see it written on a piece of sheet. It has no strength and it is nolonger yours. Bye bye pussycat.
6.Throw your TV in the crappy trash, where it belongs. TV is a dated, really old fashioned means of “Entertainment”. You cannot interact with this shit and interaction is important today. TV is full of misinformation and faulse icons that feed us everyday with stereotypes and mental viruses about how we should be, what we should wear and who we need to be so as to be happy. Sell your TV and educate yourself about what YOU NEED to be happy and educated. Brainwash yourself with positive things, everyday, and watch the magic running in your life. If TV wanted you to be happy, it would have ads about books and seminars. Have you seen any?
7.Spend your money on experiences, not things. Yes , I know, we live in a period of time really difficult for our finances. I know it in person , I am not talking from the safety of my world. Sell things you don’t need, buy cheap tickets for concerts, go to this seminar, buy the cheap ticket for the island you always wanted to go, go to this museum that you always wanted to visit. Do not postpone things that will make you your better version of yourself, you are a priority for yourself and when I say you, I mean your soul, your beautiful mind and heart. Buy books and tickets, not mobile phones and dresses and again, watch the magic running in your life. We all have little money, we have just thrown the mental virus of what we should buy.
8.Study about your religion. Believing in god helps many people dealing with everyday struggles and fears. When we say we believe in something though, it should mean I have made my round investigation about it and that made me believe stronger in it. Read books that are non religious about how your religion arrived in your country, read about the lives of the saints you worship and either make your belief stronger or give it away. Do not buy whatever your parents or school told you, decide for yourself. After your investigation, your belief will be either stronger or nothing. Please do the research without deciding ahead of time what the result will be. Help yourself find the truth.
Whatever you do, take it easy. Finding the mental virus we have been injected to our brains is not an easy part of our lives. Try to be humble for your good, the truth is that others do not care. Whatever you do, I wish you peace in mind and remember, we are here to love and be happy, not to know better than others. Cheers!
